Mountain House freeze-dried foods are easy to prepare-just add hot water...wait 10 minutes...and eat! If a heat source is not available, room temperature or cold water can be used, too. Because no cooking is needed, these foods require much less water and fuel than most fresh, frozen or dehydrated foods (further conserving these two precious commodities.)

25 Year Shelf-Life

Mountain House freeze-dried foods are packed in airtight NITROGEN PACKED #10 cans or pouches. Up to 98% of the residual oxygen has been removed. The unique canning process uses both vacuum oxygen removal and nitrogen flushing. This is a time consuming and slightly more costly process...but well worth it. It is the same process mandated by the U.S. Military for whom we also can. Our foods will have the longest shelf life available...25 years for Cans and 7 years for Pouches! Each can is coated with a protective enamel inside and out for double protection, including the lid. The cans contents are protected until you are ready to open and use them. After opening, we recommend using the contents within 1 to 2 weeks for best results and taste; using the convenient resealable plastic lid between uses. Treat any leftover food as you would fresh food.

Details:
The 500 gallon tanks have a spring loaded vented lid. (This keeps bugs and insects out, but also lets the water flow freely when drawing water out of the tank.)

All tanks have 2 heavy duty brass ball valves, one at the very bottom and the other offset to the left from the bottom valve and up 22" from the bottom (perfect for filling water jugs and buckets).

Tanks are built of Food grade Polyethylene plastic, which makes them safe for drinking water even when stored in direct Sunlight and they are FDA approved for potable water.

Even though it is always better to store water tanks out of direct sunlight, exposure to the sun will not make it unsafe to drink. The water tank has a UV8 rating, which means it will not degrade for 8 years in direct sunlight exposure. Even if the material does degrade, it will not cause the water to be unsafe for consumption.

These tanks have a 10 year warranty on them. The valves and fittings have a one year warranty. These warranties are on conditions of normal use. Any abuse voids all warranties.
